Using SoftChalk

Using SoftChalk

Creating a lesson can be as easy as creating a document in Microsoft Word or repurposing an existing word document and cutting and pasting into SoftChalk.

If you would like to add images to lessons, there are several options – from local storage,  “My Files” on the SoftChalk Cloud, the Media Search tool, or a Microsoft Word document.  The Media Search tool makes it easy to find, insert and modifying images from repositories available such as Flickr, Merlot,  ARTstor and the link. From Microsoft Word, you can also insert images or editable equations.

Optimizing images for a SoftChalk lesson follows a user-friendly process. In addition, there are over 120 Banner styles. Custom styles can also be created to personalize Softchalk lessons.

Timelines
To create a timeline within a lesson in SoftChalk, click –Insert , then  select activity – timeline. Next, enter a title in subject line to begin. Timeline events range from one year to 500 years, and they can be organized by date or alphabetical listing. Enter month day and year for events (the month and day are optional),  add a description and image if desired, and presto!
It’s a great tool for sequential activities in any discipline.

SlideShow
In just a few steps, SoftChalk also facilitates the creation of multimedia presentations. Users can upload one picture at a time, or multiple images in a folder.  Each slide can showcase a text description and even an mp3 audio file that will play automatically when the Slideshow starts.
Lessons are saved and stored on the SoftChalk Cloud.
